Amir Nawab Khan, a cameraman with broadcast news agency APTN and a reporter with Pakistani daily The Frontier Post, was killed on 7 February 2005 in an ambush near Wana, South Waziristan, south-west of Peshawar. The journalist’s car came under machine gunfire as he neared a Wana hospital. He was returning from Sararogha, South Waziristan where Taliban warlord Baitullah Mehsud had given himself up to the Pakistani authorities. Khan was killed outright. The security forces failed to identify those responsible for the attack.
Another journalist, Allah Noor Wazir, died the same way.
