Reporters Without Borders issues "enemies of press freedom" blacklist

The Blacklist is an attempt to name all those who have personally committed crimes or grave offences against journalists or media and who are still unpunished.

Reporters Without Borders calls on the authorities in the countries concerned to seriously and impartially investigate these cases and to prosecute and punish those responsible.

The facts  :
Journalist Daniel Otero got anonymous threats after reporting in September 2004 on the lack of supplies and sometimes delivery of rotten food to school canteens in this southern suburb of Buenos Aires and blamed mayor Julio Pereyra and former school board chief Genaro Simioli. His son Juan Manuel was beaten up on 25 December by a gang of seven men, including the mayor’s son Daniel. The window of the journalist’s car was smashed on 12 March 2005 and a knife left on the seat as a warning. Read the article
