Reporters Without Borders issues "enemies of press freedom" blacklist

The Blacklist is an attempt to name all those who have personally committed crimes or grave offences against journalists or media and who are still unpunished.

Reporters Without Borders calls on the authorities in the countries concerned to seriously and impartially investigate these cases and to prosecute and punish those responsible.

The facts  :
These two officials of the northeastern province of Alto Amazonas province severely beat José Antonio Simons Cappa, editor of the El Huinsho magazine, on 2 March 2005 and seized his camera as he tried to film a public meeting in Yurimaguas attended by provincial mayor Leonardo Inga Vásquez. Simons had been investigating the mayor’s involvement in corruption. The mayor denied any connection with the attack. Read the article
