Reporters Without Borders is looking for a part-time media relations officer (London)

We are an international press freedom organisation working daily to ensure the free flow of news and information. Killing or throwing a journalist in prison removes a vital witness to events and threatens the right of all of us to news. We have been fighting for it for nearly 20 years.

You will be working in London with our Paris head office distributing our reports and daily press releases about attacks on press freedom, seeking maximum coverage for them and building up close contacts with the media.

You will be organising local events to mark such occasions as World Press Freedom Day and Imprisoned Journalists’ Support Day. You will also promote our various publications and help to sell our books of photographs.

The goal in the medium term will be to promote Reporters Without Borders’ presence in the United Kingdom and develop UK-specific activities.

A degree or certificate in media relations, communication or journalism is required, as well as a thorough knowledge of world affairs. We are looking for an energetic and persuasive person with excellent writing and human skills. Experience in similar work and fluent French will be advantages.

You will have to work every weekday afternoon in order to coordinate your activities with those of the international secretariat in Paris.

Part-time salary: between £9,600 and 10,800 a year.
