Assistance and Refugees desk

The Reporters Without Borders Assistance and Refugees desk helps journalists and news media in difficulty by granting them financial assistance or by helping those who are forced to flee their country and run into difficulties abroad. The Assistance and Refugees desk helps journalists from the moment they leave their country until they obtain international or national protection.

After verifying the journalist’s situation and the threats that have been made against them, Reporters Without Borders intercedes with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and with national authorities in third countries so that the journalist can take up residence in a safe place and obtain legal protection. Journalists who have found refuge in Europe are also given advice in their search for housing, training and work and in developing partnerships with different specialised bodies.
